Centre Hall, PA

Centre Hall is a small town located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The population of Centre Hall was 1,868 as of the 2010 census. Centre Hall is a popular tourist destination because of its location in the Amish Country and its many antique shops and galleries.

The town was founded in 1792 by John Conrad, who named it after his home county of Lancaster, England. The first settler in Centre Hall was George Miller, who arrived in 1794. The town grew slowly at first, but began to prosper after the arrival of the railroad in 1851. Today, Centre Hall is a thriving community with a variety of businesses and attractions that draw tourists from all over Pennsylvania and neighboring states.

The main business district in Centre Hall is located on Main Street (U.S. Route 222). There are several antique shops and galleries located on Main Street, as well as several restaurants and cafes. Several other businesses can be found scattered throughout the town, including a bank, pharmacy, hardware store, clothing store, car dealership/repair shop, barber shop/beauty salon, and two churches - one Protestant and one Catholic - both of which offer services on Sundays morning.

The most popular attraction in Centre Hall is undoubtedly the Amish Country Museum (formerly known as the Old Order Dutch Reformed Church Museum). This museum features exhibits about life in the Amish community dating back to 1693., as well as displays about local history and natural resources.. Other attractions include the Heritage House Museum (which features exhibits about early settlers), Mill Creek Falls State Park (a beautiful waterfall), Lantzville Historic District (an historic district featuring homes from various periods), Stoltzfus Mansion (the home of noted author Elinor Landon), Christ Lutheran Church (the oldest church building still standing in Lancaster County), Uniontown Historical Society Museum & Library (featuring exhibits about local history), White Horse Tavern & Restaurant (a historic tavern that has been restored to its original condition), and numerous other small businesses that cater to tourists or locals alike..

Centre Hall is also home to several schools: three elementary schools - Easton Elementary School (#1-6; grades K-5), West Earl Elementary School (#7-8; grades K-4)], North Earl Elementary School (#9-12; grades K-6)], each serving students from parts of Lancaster County; one middle school - Central Middle School (#7-12; grades 7th through 12th); one high school - Central High School (#13-18; grades 9th through 12th).
