Queen is a borough in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the West Chester metropolitan area.
Queen was founded in 1741 and named for Queen Anne of Great Britain. The borough's early economy was based on agriculture and coal mining. In the late 19th century, Queen became an industrial center as it became home to several factories and businesses such as the Haines Foundry and Machine Company, which produced locomotives and other railroad equipment; the Queen Manufacturing Company; and the Keystone Glass Works.
In recent years, Queen has experienced a resurgence in its economy as a result of its proximity to Philadelphia (about 20 minutes away by car) and its strong educational institutions (including West Chester University). According to The Daily Review newspaper, "The borough's quality of life – including its mix of residential areas with businesses – has made it attractive to young professionals."
