Leawood, KS

Leawood is a city located in Johnson County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 25,812. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Leawood began as a small town on the banks of the Missouri River in 1868 and quickly grew into one of the most affluent communities in Kansas. The city's success can be attributed to its location just minutes from downtown Kansas City and its proximity to other affluent suburbs such as Overland Park and Lenexa. Leawood's growth has also been aided by its many well-known corporate headquarters including Sprint Corporation, Hallmark Cards, and Koch Industries.

Today, Leawood remains one of Johnson County's most prosperous cities with a strong economy and a diversified population. The city is home to several world-renowned institutions such as The Children's Mercy Hospital and The University of Missouri– Kansas City School of Medicine. Additionally, Leawood is known for its high-quality schools including Shawnee Mission East High School (ranked No. 1 in Kansas) and Bishop Miege High School (ranked No. 2 in Kansas).
