Teterboro is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 10,821,[9][10] reflecting an increase of 1,539 (+29.2%) from the 7,711 counted in the 2000 Census,[19] which had in turn increased by 2,541 (+51.1%) from the 5,633 counted in the 1990 Census.[20]
The borough was formed on April 15, 1894,[21] from portions of Hackensack Township and Teterboro Township.[22][23] The borough is named for General James T. Teter (1813–1887), a Civil War general and U.S. Senator who represented Ohio in Congress.[24][25][26][27]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough had a total area of 4.853 square miles (12.059 km2), including 4.833 square miles (11.973 km2) of land and 0.063 square mile (0.154 km2) of water (0.12%).[1]
The borough borders Hackensack to its south and west; Teaneck to its north; Ridgefield Park to its east; and Union City to its southeast.[28][29][30] The Passaic River forms part of Bergen County's border with Essex County across which lies Newark.[31][32] Interstate 80 passes through Teterboro as well as providing access to New York City via I-80/95 interchange located at milepost 91 on Route 3 just outside town limits,[33]:4
