Woodridge, NY

Woodridge is a suburban town located in Nassau County, New York. The population was 21,859 at the 2010 census. Woodridge is part of the Greater New York City metropolitan area.

The Town of Woodridge was incorporated on April 12, 1912 from portions of the Town of Hempstead and the Village of Garden City. It is named for Major General James G. Wood (1814-1892), who served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War and later as Governor of New York.

Woodridge is home to many upscale neighborhoods including: Arbor Hill, Briarcliff Manor, Brookville Hills, Cedar Ridge Estates, Chestnut Ridge Estates, Deer Park Hills, East Meadow Estates (formerly known as The Lakes), Fairway Oaks (formerly known as Greenacres), Fox Hollow Estates (formerly known as Fox Hollow), Glen Cove North (formerly known as Glen Cove Manor), Glen Cove South (formerly known as Glen Cove Gardens), Hampton Woods (formerly known as Hampton Farms), Highland Park Westchester Hills (formerly known as Highland Park Manor), Huntington Woods II & III ( Huntington Woods I being demolished in 2009 to make way for new development).
